Institutions & Seats

  • The list of colleges to which admissions are to be made and the subjects offered and the total strength in each institution are given as Annexure-I, in the Prospectus2.3 Categorization of Seats:
  • Seats available in Govt/Aided/Self-financing Affiliated Colleges are mainly classified as Merit Seats/ Community seats/Management seats and Reservation seats

Merit Seats

  • The seats that are to be filled by the University in Govt. /Aided/Self-financing Affiliated Colleges are classified as “Merit Seats”

Community Seats

  • The seats in aided Colleges that are filled by the Management concerned, on the basis of merit among their community candidates, are classified as “Community Seats”

Management Seats

  • The seats in Aided and Self-financing affiliated Colleges that are to be filled by the Managements concerned are classified as “Management Seats”

Reservation Seats

  • The seats in Government/Aided/Self-financing affiliated Colleges/Centres of the University that are earmarked for SC/ST/SEBC/BPL/PWD/Reservation for Nominees/Sports persons are classified as “Reservation Seats”

 

Eligibility for Admission

Nativity

  • Candidate should be an Indian citizen. Candidates seeking admission to PG courses will be categorized as Keralite and Non-Keralite

Keralite

  • A candidate of Kerala origin will be categorized as a Keralite. Children of All India Service Officers allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be Keralites as per G.O. (Rt); but they will not be eligible for communal/special reservation

Non-Keralite

  • A candidate who does not come under Keralite category will be categorized as Non-Keralite. Such a candidate will be eligible for admission only after all the applicants of Keralite origin are ranked and allotted
  • In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian citizen of Kerala origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to produce any one of the following certificates

  • Candidates seeking admission to PG Degree Courses have to satisfy the academic eligibility as described in the following:

M.A. Courses

English

  • B. A. English as Core Course securing not less than 4.5CCPA(S) * out of 10 or Graduation in any program in the Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences, Science, Oriental Studies and Fine Arts securing not less than 5 CCPA out of 10 for English Language Courses (common courses)/BA English & Communicative English/BA English Language and Literature under CBCS System
  • For Non-English degree holders, the maximum credits that can be earned in English Language Course should be at least of 19 Credits to acquire eligibility for admission
  • A weightage of 5% which would translate to a maximum of 40 marks will be given to the students of BA English (Honours) Program of Govt. College for women, Tv pm.

Philosophy

  • Graduation in any subject irrespective of Faculty securing not less than 4.5 CCPA(S)* out of 10. Preference for B.A Philosophy graduates

History

  • Graduation in any subject in the Faculty of Social Sciences or Graduation in the Faculty of Arts with English Language and Literature as the Core Course securing not less than 4.5 CCPA(S)* out of 10

Sociology

  • Graduate in any subject in the Faculties of Arts/Social Sciences/Science/ Commerce/ Law securing not less than 4.5CCPA(S)* out of 10.Candidates with BCA/ B.Sc. Computer Science/ B.B.A/B.Com. / B.Tech Degree of the University of Kerala or any other University which is equivalent thereto, are also eligible
  • A weightage of 50% seats for Sociology graduates and 50% seats for Non-Sociology graduates (U.O.No. Ac.AII/2/27308/IV6VIII/14 dated 30.06.2014)

Economics

  • Graduation in Economics, Mathematics or Statistics with not less than 4.5CCPA(S)* out of 10.CCPA secured for Core Course [Economics]converted to percentage(by the formula provided by respective Universities) will be added to CCPA(S)*converted to percentage as weightage

Business Economics

  • Graduation in Economics, Mathematics or Statistics with not less than 4.5CCPA(S) * out of 10

Political Science

  • Graduates in Political Science, Economics, History, Philosophy, Psychology, B.A English and Communicative English/ BA Communicative English with Public Administration, English Language and Literature, Sociology, Anthropology, Law, Journalism, Commerce, Business Administration, Public Administration, Geography or other Social Science subjects/ BSc Psychology with not less than 4.5 CCPA(S)* out of 10
  • Graduates in Science with 6 CCPA(S) out of 10 and Graduates in Engineering with 60%marks/ B.A Journalism and Mass Communication and Video Production (Career related / Restructured) / B.A Communicative English(Vocational) with Public Administration as one of the Core Subjects are also eligible. But the proportion of Engineering and Science graduates admitted should not exceed 10% of the total seats.
  • A weightage of 100 marks be given to the candidates who have studied Political Science as Core Course
  • **Graduates in any subjects with not less than 45% marks in Part III optional Main Subject concerned (including subsidiaries) are also eligible. Arabic

  • B.A. with Arabic as Core Course or Complementary Course securing not less than 4.5 CCPA(S) * out of 10 or B.A./B.Sc. with Arabic as Additional language Course securing not less than 5 CCPA out of 10 for additional language course or B.A./B.Sc. with a pass in Afzal-Ul-Ulama (Oriental Title) Exam of University of Kerala or Calicut University or Arabic Munshi Exam (Lower or Higher) of the Erstwhile Travancore-Cochin Govt. Or BA Communicative Arabic of University of Kerala as Core Course securing not less than 1.8 CGPA(S)* out of 4 or of any other University which is recognized as equivalent thereto

Islamic History

  • B.A. with Islamic History as Core Course with not less than 4.5 CCPA(S)* out of 10 . Graduates in Social Science and Arabic are also eligible provided there are vacancies over and above the number of applicants with BA Islamic History
  • B.A Afzal- Ul-Ulama is an eligible qualification for admission to Islamic History (UO.No. Ac AII/3/949(10)/2010; 19.6.2010)/Graduates in any subject is also eligible but preference/ weightagebe given to graduates in Islamic History. (Modified UO No. Ac.AII/2/31968/IV4(1)/2013 dtd.30.08.2013)

Sanskrit (General)

  • 1st Preference will be given to candidates with B.A. with Sanskrit as Core Course securing not less than 4.5 CCPA(S)* out of10.2ndpreference will be given to B.A./B.Sc. with Sanskrit as Additional Language Course securing not less than 5 CCPA out of 10 for additional language course; 3rd preference is given to students with Sanskrit as Complementary Course

Sanskrit (Nyaya)

The minimum grade point for admission to M.A. Degree Course in Public Administration is4.5 CCPA(S)* out of 10 as that of all other subject sunder the Faculty of Social Sciences

  • BBA/BBS/BBM graduates are also eligible. 80% of the total seats for M.Com. Degree Courses in affiliated Colleges shall be reserved for candidates with B.Com Degree and the remaining 20% seats open to Graduates of B.Com and BBA, BBS & BBM Degree holders, if otherwise eligible based on merit

Application Form

  • Any candidate who wishes to join PG Programme in colleges affiliated to University of Kerala should compulsorily register online at http://admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in

 

  • The site is optimized with the latest versions of Mozilla firebox, Google chrome etc.; the candidates are advised to enable “JavaScript” before proceeding with the Registration
  • Read the instructions carefully before proceeding with the registration
  • Do not press “back” button during the process of registration
  • Online Registration

Registration Fee

  • The Registration Fee will be as follows:
  • For General candidates: Rs 400/-
  • For SC/ST candidates: Rs 200/-
  • The Registration Fee can be remitted online or in any branch of State Bank of India using the downloaded Challan. The original pay-in-slip (University’s Copy) from the bank should be kept safely as the same is to be submitted to the Principal at the time of admission
  • A candidate who does not belong to SC/ST Community will be treated as “General” candidate for this purpose. Candidates shall not remit the fee in any other form like Demand Draft, Cheque etc.
  • The first step of PG online registration process is to click on “Click here for Registration” button available in the home page of the website www.admissions.keralauniversity.ac.in. After that, the candidate has to provide the minimum details like Name, Date of birth, Gender, Category and Email id
  • After entering the required details, the candidate will be provided with a unique application number
