University of Calcutta, Kolkata (Dept. of Chemistry), invites application forms from the eligible candidates for admission into PhD Programme in Chemistry for the Academic session commencing in January 2017.
Candidates shall have a Master’s degree or a degree declared equivalent to the Master’s Degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body of this University, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed)
A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently Abled candidates
The final selection will be made on the basis of the overall performance of the candidates
Note: Candidates who already cleared the UGC/CSIR (JRF) Exams/NET/SET/SLET /GATE or have obtained DST INSPIRE Fellowship/Teacher fellowship or have passed equivalent exams or passed the M.Phil./ M.Tech /M.D/M.E./ M.Pharm or equivalent exam, need to appear at the interview directly, skipping the written test
Reservation policy shall be followed as per West Bengal Higher Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Rules, 2013
At present, approximately a maximum of 33 students will be taken for the PhD Programme

Candidates willing to pursue their research work, leading subsequently to PhD (Sc.) Degree of the University of Calcutta, should apply in the format given below after paying Rs.100/‐ in the University Cash Counter (as application fee for PhD admission) through a challan obtainable from the cash Counter at Calcutta University
