TISS Mumbai notifies PGDIE admission 2014

Tata Institute of Social Sciences Mumbai 1 Year Post Graduate Diploma in Inclusive Education (PGDIE) [Full-Time] 2014-15

Applications have been invited by Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai for admission to Post Graduate Diploma in Inclusive Education (PGDIE) of Year 2014-15

TISS was one of the earliest institutions to be recognised as an institution Deemed to be University in 1964 to further teaching and research in the inter-disciplinary areas of Social Sciences

TISS is a centrally funded public university with the entire plan and non-plan grants provided by the University Grants Commission (UGC), Govt. of India (GoI) since 1964

The overall aim of this programme is to develop a cadre of personnel with specialized competency in working with marginalised children irrespective of disability, disadvantage, and privilege through building right based perspectives

Objectives of the PG Diploma in Inclusive Education

i. To gain a theoretical perspective on inclusive education and related contexts of disability and development

ii. To learn and practice an eclectic approach to learning, through use of varied methodologies

iii. To develop context-specific intervention strategies for children with diverse learning needs, that promotes equity and social justice in education

iv. To foster and encourage an attitude that is conducive to promote inclusion in diverse learning-teaching environments

Eligibility Criteria

Any first degree in Education (BA in education, Regular B.Ed., B.Ed in special education)

A Bachelor’s Degree (under 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years of formal education), in any discipline from a recognized university, with minimum aggregate marks of 50% (40% for SC/ST Candidates with demonstrated interest in working with children with disability for a minimum of one year would be preferred

Sponsored candidates from organizations working in the area of disability and inclusive setting would be given special preference

Seats: There are a total of 20 seats available in the programme, including and observing the reservation norms (SC/ST & PWD) of the GoI and International students/ children of Indian workers in the Gulf and in South-East Asia

The reservation for OBC will be followed as per GoI directives

Selection Procedure

Those satisfying the eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through the following (Total Marks = 100):

a) Personal Interview (70 marks)

b) Academic Background (30 marks): Marks are awarded to each applicant on the basis of overall percentage of marks secured in the Bachelor’s Degree Examination

Announcement of Selection:The list of candidates selected will be displayed on the Institute’s notice board and website; it is the responsibility of the candidate to find out the status of their result

The Diploma Programme will commence from 17th September 2014

Acceptance Letter: An acceptance letter should be sent to the Short Term Programmes (STP) Section on or before 15th September 2014, along with Semester-I fees paid challan and Rs 26,600/-

The verification of original documents will be carried out on day of Personal Interview

The selected candidates for Personal Interview must produce the following documents for verification, in original

If a candidate has submitted his/her original documents like degree, mark sheet, etc. to a College/University for re-evaluation or for any other purpose, he/she is required to produce a letter from the college/university authority addressed to the Registrar of the Institute clearly indicating that the candidate’s original documents, as states above, have been retained by the college/university for a specific purpose:

i) Secondary School Certificate Marksheet (X/XI); ii) Higher Secondary Certificate Marksheet (XII); iii) First Year/I and II Semester Bachelor’s Degree Marksheet; iv) Second Year/III and IV Semester Bachelor’s Degree Marksheet; v) Third Year/V and VI Semester Bachelor’s Degree Marksheet (if passed and if the degree is of 3 years duration); vi) Fourth Year/VII and VIII Semester Bachelor’s Degree Marksheet (if passed and if the degree is of 4 years duration); vii) A conversion table of grade points into percentage equivalents, in the case of grade card holders; viii) No Objection Certificate from the employer, if employed; ix) Certificate of Work Experience, if any; x) Caste/Tribe Certificate (only for SCs and STs); xi) Certificate of disability (if applicable); xii) Certificates of relevant extra-curricular activities, if any

Please note that while submitting the downloaded Application Form, the application fee of Rs.500/- (non-refundable) should accompany it

Please note that application processing fees must be pay to any branch of SBI, and that fees paid challan must be submitted to Ms. Olive Fernandes, PS to the Director, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, V.N. Purav Marg, Deonar, Mumbai-400088 along with application form and other documents

The application will not be considered unless the form is completed in all respects and received in time
