National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (Divyangjan), Dept. of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities invites applications for admission to the 2 year Bachelor Degree Course (B.Ed.) in Special Education (Visual Impairment& Inclusive Education) for the year 2017
NIVH Regional Centre
The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities – Regional Centre, a premier organization engaged in multifarious activities for empowering and mainstreaming of visually impaired persons in the Southern Region, is conducting a Two-year Program of Teacher Education, B.Ed. Special Education (Visual Impairment & Inclusive Education) as part of its Human Resources Development Endeavour
This Course is affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai and approved by the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi
Intake Capacity
Its present intake capacity is 20 students


A candidate who has successfully passed B.A./B.Sc. in school subjects/B/E./Technical course with Science & Maths as subject from a recognised University with at least 50% of marks in aggregate
Candidates who have passed the UG Degree Exam in the 10+2+3 stream alone will be eligible; for admission of candidates with PG qualifications in other subjects the University norms will be applicable
Only one subject will be considered for optional in B.Ed., for applicants possessing double or triple major
Minimum percentage of marks required to apply for various categories is given here below. Applicants possessing such required marks only need apply
General – 50%
BC/BCM – 45%
SC/ST – 43%
Disabled – Pass
Selection Procedure
Selection will be based on merit according to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying exam; the applicants are required to add the Part III marks (theory and practical) for all the three years (except Tamil and English) and calculate the percentage for the total marks and write in the application form in the space provided
Those applying based on their PG marks shall add their two-year marks in PG course and calculate the percentage; the applicants are advised to calculate the percentage exactly upto four decimal points (example: 55.6867).
The marks obtained in the under-graduation in major and ancillary subjects, both theory and practical for all three years (except marks obtained in Tamil and English subjects) will be taken for preparing the rank list
Reservation policy as laid down by the Govt. will be followed for selection of the candidates
SC/ST/Disabled Candidates will be allowed relaxation of 5% of marks in the minimum eligibility requirement
Fee Particulars
University Fee – General Registration Fee Rs.125/-; the development of infrastructural facilities Rs.40/-; culture and Youth Festival Rs.40/-; Sports Rs. 50/-; Library Rs.50/-; Eligibility Fee including cost of Application Rs.280/-; cost of eligibility Application Rs.30/-
Institution Fee – Tuition Fees (per year) Rs.12000/-; the ID card Rs.150/-; Educational Kit Rs.960/-; Uniform Rs.2000/-

Application Procedure

The Prospectus-cum-Application Form can be obtained in person on payment of Rs.350/- (Rupees Three Hundred & Fifty only) for General and OBC candidates and Rs.200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) for SC/ST/Disabled Candidates
Payment can be made by a bank draft drawn in favour of “NIVH Regional Centre, payable at Chennai”, on all working days during office hours from 09.00 AM to 05.30 PM
If the prospectus-cum-application form is required by post, an extra amount of Rs.50/- shall have to be paid. Prospectus-cum-application form can also be downloaded from the Institute’s website
Duly filled in application forms along with application fee should reach by 17th July 2017 along with attested copies of necessary documents (Marks lists of the qualifying examinations) at the following address:
