JSSCACS Mysore announces PG Programmes admission 2014

JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysore, announces admission to PG Programmes for 2014 session.

Postgraduate Programmes –

(2 Years / 4 Semesters)
(i) M.Sc in Physics – 45 intakes; (ii) M.Sc in Chemistry – 45 intakes; (iii) M.Sc in Mathematics – 40 intakes; (iv) M.Sc in Computer Science – 60 intakes; (v) M.Sc in Biochemistry – 45 intakes; (vi) M.Sc in Bio-Technology – 40 intakes; (vii) M.A. in Kannada – 50 intakes; (viii) M.A. in English – 30 intakes; (ix) MSW – 45 intakes; (x) M.Com – 120 intakes

Eligibility Conditions

Candidates applying for admission to Postgraduate Degree Programmes must have obtained a minimum of 45% (40% in case of SC/ST/Category-I candidates) marks in Cognate / Optional subjects put together from all the years of the examinations of the course

However, deviations, if any, are mentioned in the table below against specific programmes

In case a candidate has taken longer than the prescribed duration to pass the qualifying course, a deduction of 3% from the percentage of the aggregate of marks of Cognate / Optional subjects for every additional year shall be applied and the candidates must have obtained the minimum marks prescribed even after such deduction, to become eligible for admission

i) M.Sc in Physics: B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics as Major/ Optional subjects; or B.Sc.Ed degree of Regional Institute of Education with Physics as a special subject

ii) M.Sc in Chemistry: B.Sc with Chemistry as one of the Major/ Optional subject provided the candidate has studied Mathematics as one of the optional subject in the Two Year PUC or equivalent

iii) M.Sc in Mathematics: B.Sc with Mathematics as Major / Optional subject; or B.Sc.Ed degree of Regional Institute of Education with Mathematics as a special subject

iv) M.Sc in Computer Science: The candidates who have passed B.Sc with Computer Science / Computer Applications / Computer Maintenance / Electronics as an optional or BCA. Candidates should have studied Mathematics as a major or minor subject in their BCA/B.Sc degree; or

A degree in B.Sc (IT) (from recognized regular University or Open University) even without Mathematics in their two year PU or Diploma (in Electronics, Computer Science and Information Technology) are permitted, if they have SSLC level Mathematics

v) M.Sc in Biochemistry: B.Sc with Biochemistry/Chemistry as a Major/Optional subject

vi) M.Sc in Bio-Technology: Candidates with Bachelors degree in Science including Agriculture, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, Medicine, Veterinary, Dairy, Fisheries, Horticulture, Forestry from any University recognized by UGC/ICAR/AICTE/Medical Council with an aggregate minimum of 55% marks

vii) M.A. in Kannada: BA/B.Sc/BA Performing Arts, with Kannada as Major/Optional subject; or degree with Post-Pre-University Diploma in Kannada; or Pandit Examination of Karnataka Govt; or B.Ed Degree with SSLC and Vidwat Exam of the University of Madras

viii) M.A. in English: BA with English as a major or optional subject; or B.A.Ed (Regional Institute of Education); or Degree with Postgraduate Diploma in English of the University of Mysore; or BA/B.Sc, BA Performing Arts with not less than 50% marks in English Language or English Minor

ix) MSW: BSW, BA/B.Sc/B.Com/BBM/BCA/LLB of this University or of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto

x) M.Com: B.Com/BBM of this University or any other University considered as equivalent thereto

Admissions Procedure

i) 50% seats of the total intake for all the PG Programmes of the college will be filled-up by University of Mysore through Centralized Admission Cell as per University regulations

ii) Remaining 50% seats will be filled-up by the College

How to Apply for Entrance Exam: Candidates seeking seat through Centralized Admission Cell of University of Mysore and under College Quota for PG Programmes of the college should apply and appear for entrance examination conducted as per notification issued by the University of Mysore

How to Apply

i) Candidates seeking admission to the College through Centralized Admission Cell of University of Mysore have to submit application to the University as per the above University Notification

ii) Candidates seeking admission to PG Programmes under College Quota may obtain Prospectus and Application form either in person from the college office on payment of Rs.400/- or through post by sending Demand Draft for Rs.500/- in favor of the Principal of the college

Applications may also be downloaded from the college website and to be submitted in person or by post along with Demand Draft for Rs.400/-

The filled in application form along with necessary photocopies of marks cards and certificates should be submitted to the college on or before 30th July 2014
