Colleges Fine Arts Kerala BFA Admission 2018 – Applications have been invited for admission to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Degree Course at Colleges of Fine Arts Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala for the academic year 2018

Course Intake

  • University of Kerala with intake of 43 students; Mavelikkara (Raja Ravi Varma college of Fine Arts, Mavelikkara-690101 affiliated to University of Kerala with intake of 40 students and Thrissur College of Fine Arts, Thrissur-680020 affiliated to University of Calicut with intake of 40 students

Course Details

  • The duration of the course is 4 years. The 1st year of the course is termed as common course and the remaining 3 years are allocated for specialization in Painting, Sculpture or Applied Art
  • These specialized branches in the 2nd year will be offered based on the percentage of marks obtained in the 1st Year University Exam in the ratio 1:2:3 for Sculpture, Painting & Applied Art
  • First and Final year exam will be conducted by the Universities to which the colleges are affiliated while the 2nd and 3rd year Examinations by the respective Colleges


Important Dates

  • Last Date of rectifying defects of application is 08th June 2018
  • The written Test will be a region-based exam to be held 24th June 2018
  • Interview will be on 03rd July 2018
  • Rank list and 1st allotment of memo will be issued on 09th July 2018


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant should have passed +2 or equivalent Examination. Applicant should have completed 17 years of age and must be below 27 years as on 1st June 2018


Selection Process

  • Selection will be made on the basis of Entrance Examination and an Interview

Reservation Seats

  • Seats are reserved for candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) (Ezhava-9%, Muslim-8%, Latin Catholic & Anglo Indian-3%, Other Backward Christian-1%, Other Backward Hindu-3%, Kudumbi-1% Kusavan and related communities-1%, Dheevara and related communities-2% and Viswakarma and related communities-2%); Scheduled Caste (SC); Scheduled Tribe (ST); Physically Disabled as per rules
  • One seat is reserved in any one of the institution for son/daughter of Ex-servicemen

Exam Pattern

  • The written Test will be a region-based examination to be held at KGPT Kozhikode, Fine Arts College, Thrissur and College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram on 24th June 2018 and carrying a maximum of 100 marks
  • There will be a Short essay to be written and questions from Reasoning ability, mental ability, imaging ability
  • Those who secure a minimum of 25% marks in written test will be shortlisted for practical exam. The Practical Exam will carry a maximum of 200 Marks and will be held at College of Fine Arts, Thiruvananthapuram
  • The candidates will have to attend 2 tests of 100 marks each. Test 1 will be Creative Painting (Water colour painting of a given subject) and Test 2 will be Life Modelling
  • Test 1 will be held on 02nd July 2018, from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon and Test 02.00 from 01.00 pm to 03.00 pm on the same day
  • Those securing 40% marks in both Practical tests will be short listed for the Interview stage. Interview will be on 03rd July 2018
  • Interview will carry a maximum of 100 Marks. The candidates attending the interview will have to bring their recent painting, drawing and sculpture at the time of interview.
  • A rank list will be prepared on basis of performance in Entrance Exam and Interview. Allotment will be based on the institution preference of the candidates, given in the application form. Rank list and 1st allotment of memo will be issued on 09th July 2018


Application Forms

  • Application forms and prospectus can be obtained from the Principal of the Fine Arts Colleges on payment of Rs.150/ (Rs.75/- for SC/ST applicants)
  • They can be obtained by post by submitting a Demand Draft for Rs.185/- for General candidates and Rs.110/- for the SC/ST candidates, drawn in favour of the Principal of the concerned Fine Arts College
  • Application Forms duly filled up together with documents for proof of age, Attested copy of the mark list of +2 or equivalent/diploma in Engineering for Hearing Disabled, and attested copy of relevant certificates If reservations are claimed, should be submitted to the Director of Technical Education, Fort, Thiruvananthapuram-695023 on or before 29th May 2018
