Central University of Tamil Nadu invites application for admission to the following Programs of CUTN for the academic year 2017-18.
 

CUCET-CUTN-2017 Admissions

Admission to various programmes of the CUTN is done through the Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET). Every year CUCET is being conducted by a consortium of Central Universities comprises of newly formed Central Universities viz. Haryana, Jammu, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kashmir, Kerala, Punjab, Rajasthan, South Bihar and Tamil Nadu. The number of Universities participating in CUCET increases year by year.

CUTN CUCET 2017 Application Form

Application form can be downloaded from the CUTN website www.cutn.ac.in

Candidates can avail the application form of CUTN CUCET 2017 March 20 till April 14, 2017. The application form can be filled in online mode only

Detailed information about CUCET-2017 is available on CUCET website www.cutn.ac.in or www.cucet2017.co.in

Candidates are required to apply online through CUCET-2017 website. General Information for filling the online application can be obtained from CUCET-2017 website www.cutn.ac.in or www.cucet2017.co.in

Applicants are required to fill in the details in the form carefully. On submission of online application, successfully the students will get successful completion message in the online case

In the offline case the candidate will get a message after reconciliation from the bank within 2-3 days

CUTN CUCET 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Integrated M.Sc Programmes (5 Years)

Mathematics (Intake: 30): Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science/Biology) for general category, 55% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates

Physics (Intake: 30): Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks (Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science/Biology) for general category, 55% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates

Chemistry (Intake: 30): Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks (Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science/Biology) for general category, 55% marks for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates

Life Sciences (Intake: 30): Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with 60% marks (Biology, Physics, Chemistry with or without Mathematics/Computer Science) for general category, 55% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates

Economics (Intake: 30): Plus two examination or equivalent of any recognized board in India with Mathematics or Economics with Business Mathematics at the Hr. Secondary level with 60% marks in aggregate for general category, 55% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy layer) and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates

M.A. Programmes (2 Years)

English Studies (Intake: 20): Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks for General Category, 50% marks for OBC (Non-creamy Layer), 45% marks for SC/ST candidates with English as major or one of the major subjects

The candidates should not have completed 30 years of age as on 01st July 2017 (for those who qualify CUCET 2015, the dept. of English Studies will administer an additional test for selecting candidates for admitting to M.A English Studies; the duration of the test will be an hour and candidates will answer one out of 6 descriptive type questions)

Tamil (Intake: 20): Bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks for General Category, 50% marks for OBC (Non-creamy Layer), 45% marks for SC/ST candidates with Tamil as a major subject or as one of the subjects

Social Work (Intake: 20): Any Bachelor’s degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4) from a recognized university, in any discipline; minimum marks in the qualifying exam for admission is 55% for general category, 50% marks for OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates

Media & Communication (Intake: 20): Any Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university with at least 55% marks for general category, 50% marks OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 45% marks for SC/ST candidates at Graduate level

Hindi (Intake: 20): A Bachelor’s Degree in Hindi with at least 55% (Gen) [50% (OBC Non Creamy Layer)/45 %(SC/ST)] of aggregate marks (or) any Bachelor’s Degree with at least 55% (Gen)[50% (OBC Non Creamy Layer)/45% (SC/ST)] of marks in Hindi as Optional/Elective/Compulsory Language

Note: A candidate who has Bachelor degree but had not studied Hindi as any of the subjects (or) does not have 55% (Gen)[50% (OBC Non Creamy Layer)/45 % (SC/ST)] marks in Hindi as a language, should have qualified Oriental title equivalent to B.A in Hindi recognized by the Central or State Govt with 50% of marks

M.Sc Programmes (2 Years)

General Economics (50 intake); Financial Economics (50 intake); Applied Quantitative Finance (50 intake); Environmental Economics (30 intake); Actuarial Economics (30 intake)

Eligibility Criterion: Any graduate of a recognized University with a minimum of 55% marks for general category, 50% marks for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), 45% marks for SC/ST Candidates and had studied Mathematics at plus two level

Chemistry (Intake: 16): Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry (Main) or with Chemistry as one of the major subjects; candidates should have secured a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) in the qualifying degree exam for General category, 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (on a 10 point scale) for OBC and 50% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) for SC/ST candidates

M.Tech Programmes (2 Year)

Material Science & Nano Technology (Intake: 24): First Class M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry/Applied Physics/Applied Chemistry/Material Science/ Nano Science/Nano Technology or BE/ B.Tech (except Computer Science/IT)

Minimum marks in the qualifying exam for admission is 60% for general category, 55% for OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 50% for SC/ST candidates

Energy and Environmental Technology (Intake: 24): First Class M.Sc in Physics/Chemistry/Applied Physics/Applied Chemistry/ Material Science/ Energy & Environmental Science/ Nano Science/ Nano Technology or BE/ B.Tech in Metallurgy/ Mechanical/ Electrical/ Civil/Energy/ Chemical/ Environmental Engg etc

Minimum marks in the qualifying exam for admission is 60% for general category, 55% for OBC (Non-creamy Layer) and 50% for SC/ST candidates

English – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in the concerned or an allied subject, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute. UGC-NET qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance test

Interview/ written test may be conducted by the dept in addition to the above

Physics – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in Physics or equivalent degree, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for Interview; UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE/ Equivalent national fellowship candidates are exempted from Entrance Test

Chemistry- Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in Chemistry/ Organic Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry or equivalent degree, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute

Only shortlisted candidates will be called for Interview; UGC-CSIR NET/ GATE/ SLET qualified candidates and DST-INSPIRE/RGNF/MANF fellowship holders are exempted from Entrance Test

Tamil – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in Master’s degree in Tamil/equivalent subject in Tamil, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University

For CUCET passed candidates, an Interview may be conducted by the Dept. UGCNET qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance test, for them a written test and interview may be conducted by the dept in addition

Life Sciences – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in Life Sciences/ Zoology/ Animal Sciences/ Biomedical Sciences/ Biological Sciences/ Biochemistry/Biotechnology/ Genetics/ Botany/ Plant Sciences, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute

UGC-CSIR NET / GATE qualified Candidates are exempted from Entrance Test

Economics – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) in Economics with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] overall marks, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute

Candidates with UGC-JRF are exempted from entrance test

Mathematics – Intake will be decided at the time of admissions

A consistently good academic record possessing a Master’s Degree (two years duration) with a minimum of 55% marks [50% for OBC (Non-creamy layer) and 45% for SC/ST] in Mathematics, preceded by a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent Degree of three years duration from a recognized University/Institute

The selection will also be based on the interview conducted by the Dept. Candidates with UGC-CSIR JRF, GATE, NBHM or qualified in any other National level Exams for admission into PhD programs are exempted from entrance test

Note: All those candidates who have cleared National Level Examinations for admission into PhD programmes i.e. UGC-CSIR JRF or equivalent will have to apply through CUCET 2015 online portal and they will be exempted from CUCET 2017 Entrance Exam

However, they will have to appear for interview only shortlisted candidates will be called for Interview; some of the departments may conduct written test at the time of interview, if required
 

CUTN CUCET 2017 Fee Structure

The fee for CUCET-2017 for different categories of the candidates would be as follows, which shall be payable in CUCET-2017 account:

For General/OBC Candidates: Rs.800/- + Bank Commission Rs.50/- Total Fee to be Paid: Rs.850/-

For SC /ST Candidates: Rs.350/- + Bank Commission Rs.50/- Total Fee to be Paid: Rs.400/-

PwD Candidates: All PWD candidates are exempted from CUCET-2017 fees as per Govt. of India

Payment Mode

Online Application & Payment through Online /Debit Card / Credit Card and Challan

*For payment through online/debit/credit card, extra charges of Rs.10 to Rs.15/- as levied by service provider shall be charged to the candidates

Candidates are allowed to appear for CUCET-2017 provisionally subject to the final verification of mark
 

CUTN CUCET 2017 General Instructions

THE CUTN – CUCET-2017 Exam

The Central Universities Common Entrance Test-2017 (CUCET-2017) exam is conducted jointly by the ten Central Universities namely Central University of Haryana, Central University of Jammu, Central University of Jharkhand, Central University of Kashmir, Central University of Karnataka, Central University of Kerala, Central University of Punjab, Central University of Rajasthan, Central University of South Bihar and Central University of Tamil Nadu, under the guidance of Central University of Rajasthan

This test is conducted for the students of 10+2, Bachelor Degree holders and Master Degree holders to obtain admission into the UG/Integrated Program/B.Voc., Post Graduate Program and the Research Program respectively in these ten Central Universities

All applicants are advised to check the eligibility criteria thoroughly before applying for the programme, because, different universities have different eligibility criteria for similar courses. Hence, students will be themselves responsible if they opt for a course for which they are not eligible
