CCS University Meerut – Common Eligibility Test (CET) for PhD Program 2016

Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) issued notification of registration for PhD entrance on Sunday for the students seeking admission for research work. The notification for CCSU CET 2016 – CCS University Meerut PhD Entrance Test 2016 has been announced.

The registration for 1425 available seats in 31 different subjects will open on 01st January 2016 and a written test will be conducted in five cities on 20th March 2016

The admission to various PhD Programs in CCSU will be made by the University on the basis of “Merit Score Certificate” issued to successful candidates as per provisions made in the ordinances

Important Dates

Application Form will be Available Online only on the Website: 01st January 2016

Last Date for Submitting filled-in Application Forms to CCSU, Meerut: 01st to 20th January 2016

Candidates will have to print a hard copy of the form, which must be sent to pro vice-chancellor of CCSU by registered or speed post by: 24th January 2016 (up to 05.00 pm)

Date of CET for PhD Programs: 20th March 2016 (Sunday)

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have Master’s degree with 55% in relevant subjects or equivalent grade point under the seven-point scale laid down by the UGC. A 5% relaxation in minimum marks at PG level shall be given to SC/ST and physical handicapped/disabled candidates

The candidates appearing in Final year/Final Semester Exam are also eligible to apply; however, they will have to produce their final year/final Semester Exam result at the time of admission

Exam Fee

Fee Rs.1000/- for General and OBC candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates

The Payment of Exam Fee will be made On-line through Credit / Debit Card / Net Banking through the payment gateway available on the University website while filling the application form


The syllabus of this ‘Common Eligibility Test’ will be that prescribed for UGC/CSIR/ICAR-NET-JRF Examinations, which is available on the UGC/CSIR/ICAR websites

Scheme of Test

The Common Eligibility Test will be based on Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) and shall have two papers as detailed below:

a) First Paper will contain multiple-choice objective type 100 questions of 100 marks of two hours’ duration and will be for assessing general awareness, academic aptitude and subject proficiency

b) Second paper will contain 200 questions of 200 marks of three hours’ duration for assessing subject expertise, research aptitude and Subject Knowledge

c) There shall be no negative marking

Qualifying Percentage:

There shall be minimum qualifying marks for the test, i.e. 50% marks on the aggregate but minimum 40% marks separately in each paper:

If a relaxation of 5% marks (on the aggregate and in each paper as well) will be provided to the candidates belonging to the SC/ST/DA & (Physically and visually)

Date of Paper-I: 20th March 2016 (Timing: 09.00 am – 11.00 am; 100 marks and Content: MCQs based on Academic Aptitude & General Awareness and Subject Proficiency)

Date of Paper-II: 20th March 2016 (Timing: 02.00 pm – 05.00 pm; 200 marks and Content: MCQs based on Research Aptitude and Subject Knowledge)

Exam Centres: The following shall be the examination centres: Baghpat, Bulandshahr, Ghaziabad, Meerut and Saharanpur

Admit Cards: The admit card of eligible candidates for appearing in eligibility test will be available on university website

How to Apply

The prescribed Application form will be available online only on the website from 01st January 2016 and can be filled only online from 01st January 2016 to 20th January 2016

After successful submission of the Application Form, the candidate will have to print a hard copy of the same

Hard Copy of the duly filled-in application form should be sent to “The Pro-Vice Chancellor, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut-250004” (Uttar Pradesh) by Registered/Speed Post only, so as to reach the pro-vice chancellor’s Office on or before 24th January 2016 up to 05.00 pm

The university shall not be responsible for any postal delay whatsoever
